Itinerary:

DAY 1: WEDNESDAY - (D)   

Guests on CAPE13 will depart Brisbane on the Spirit of Queensland for an overnight rail journey to Cairns.

DAY 2: THURSDAY - CAIRNS (B,L,D)   

Guests on CAPE11 will join the tour after lunch. Arrive Cairns with a courtesy transfer to your overnight accommodation.  Accommodation Cairns - Rydges Esplanade Resort.

DAY 3:  FRIDAY - COOKTOWN (B,L,D)

We travel north along one of Australia's most scenic coastal drives towards the World Heritage-Listed Daintree National Park, crossing the mighty Daintree River by cable ferry.  We visit the Daintree Discovery Centre then follow the famous Bloomfield Track on an amazing journey hugging the scenic Daintree Coast to Cooktown.  Accommodation Cooktown - Sovereign Resort

DAY 4: SATURDAY - COOKTOWN (B,L,D) 

Today we join a magical, award-winning tour by Aboriginal Elder and story-keeper, Willie Gordon who will take us to his ancestral rock art sites.  Here he will share the stories behind the art, giving you an amazing insight into Aboriginal society and spirtuality. DAY 5:  SUNDAY - LOTUS BIRD LODGE (B,L,D)

We explore Lakefield National Park with its famous red and white lily lagoons.  The local environment of the Lotus Bird Lodge Lagoon is the ideal habitat for over 200 species of birds.  This private walking track with its uninterrupted views of lilies and amazing bird life will be a highlight of the trip not to mention the hospitality of Sue and Gary our hosts.  Accommodation Musgrave - Lotus Bird Lodge

DAY 6:  MONDAY - WEIPA (B,L,D) 

We travel via the historic gold mining town of Coen and call in at the Coen Quarantine Station, a really interesting stop. Traversing Mungkan Kandju National Park with its riverine rainforest and swamps, we cross Archer River before arriving in Weipa.  Accommodation Weipa - Albatross Bay Resort 

DAY 7:  TUESDAY - WEIPA (B,L,D)

Join a local guide for a morning tour of the Weipa Bauxite Mine, the largest of its kind in the world. This afternoon we cruise the mouth of the Gulf of Carpentaria on a Sunset Eco Tour where we will have the chance to spot wildlife and hear commentary about the beautiful ecosystems and local culture. DAY 8: WEDNESDAY - BAMAGA (B,L,D)

We travel along the Botavia Downs Station Road to Moreton Telegraph Station on the Wenlock River and pass through the Heathlands Nature Reserve and Bramwell Station. Driving on some of the original sections of the Old Telegraph Track we make our way along rugged 4WD roads to the lush Fruit Bat Falls with its crystal clear water (croc free), a perfect swimming spot and one of the most special places on the Cape. DAY 9:  THURSDAY - BAMAGA (B,L,D)

Cape York Peninsula is one of Australia’s last great wilderness areas. A good level of fitness is required to reach the tip of Cape York via a picturesque walking track. We stand at the very tip of our continent, the most northerly point of Australia before enjoying a picnic lunch at Somerset Beach with views of Albany Island. DAY 10:  FRIDAY - THURSDAY & FRIDAY ISLANDS (B,L,D)

A magic day today cruising the beautiful turquoise waters of the Endeavour Strait to Thursday Island. Today we join a unique tour experience to Kazu Pearl’s Friday Island Pearl Farm where we’ll learn about the cultivation, seeding and harvesting of the oyster followed by a delicious lunch. Afternoon free to explore the local shops. Accommodation Thursday Island - Jardine Motel 

DAY 11:  SATURDAY - HORN ISLAND & CAIRNS (B,L,D)

Today we'll take a historic tour of Thursday Island including Green Hill Fort before boarding the ferry to nearby Horn Island.  We will arrive in time for lunch and a wander through the Torres Strait Heritage Museum.  Next, we join a guided tour of Horn Island World War II sites and hear about the Kaurareg People, traditional owners of Horn Island before transferring to the airport for a return Qantaslink flight to Cairns.  Accommodation Cairns - Rydges Esplanade Resort

DAY 12:  SUNDAY - (B, L, D)

Guests on CAPE11 will conclude their tour after breakfast with a transfer to their homeward bound connections.  Guests on CAPE13 will join the Spirit of Queensland for a first class overnight journey back to Brisbane.

DAY 13:  MONDAY - (B)

Guests on CAPE13 will arrive in Brisbane.
