Itinerary: 

DAY 1: SATURDAY – (B,L,D)

Guests on GULF17 will depart Brisbane on the Spirit of the Outback for a first class overnight rail journey to Longreach.

DAY 2: SUNDAY – LONGREACH (B,L,D)

Guests on GULF15 will join the tour today after lunch. You will be met by our Outback Aussie Tour’s representative and transferred to your accommodation. Dinner will be at your accommodation tonight.  Accommodation Longreach – Longreach Motor Inn

DAY 3: MONDAY – LONGREACH (B,L,D)

Today we visit the Qantas Founders Museum and the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame, explore the five themed galleries and see the Outback Stockman’s Show. Late afternoon, we join the M.V. Explorer for the Drover’s Sunset Cruise then enjoy a 2-course table service dinner as you watch the entertaining Smithy’s Outback Dinner and Show.  Accommodation Longreach – Longreach Motor Inn

DAY 4: TUESDAY – CLONCURRY (B, L, D)

Departing Longreach for Cloncurry we discover Outback characters and visit great Aussie pubs including the Blue Heeler Hotel and Walkabout Creek Hotel - made famous in the Crocodile Dundee film. In Cloncurry we visit the Mary Kathleen Memorial Park and John Flynn Place, honouring an Australian visionary and pioneer of the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Accommodation Cloncurry – Gidgee Inn

DAY 5: WEDNESDAY – ADELS GROVE (B,L,D)

We travel on to Mount Isa and visit the Outback at Isa complex. Heading North West en route to Lawn Hill ‘Boodjamulla’ National Park, we visit the World Heritage-listed Riversleigh Fossil Fields, home to the richest and most extensive fossil deposits in the world; some dating back 15 to 25 million years. Arrive at Adel’s Grove, an eco-sensitive property set among a plantation of exotic trees initially grown by the French botanist Albert de Lestang over 80 years ago. DAY 6: THURSDAY – ADELS GROVE (B,L,D)

We board the new solar electric powered pontoon boat for the all new ‘Cruise Lawn Hill Gorge’ sightseeing tour. Picnic amongst the towering red pillars steeped in the Aboriginal legend of ‘Boodjamulla’. Delight in the picturesque views overlooking Indarri Falls and Gorge System or take a refreshing swim in nature’s incredible Tufa rock spa bath. DAY 7: FRIDAY - BURKETOWN (B,L,D)

Today we travel further north to Burketown on the Albert River.  Board the Gulflander and take a scenic rail journey through the Gulf Savannah Bushland.  Acommodation Burketown - Burketown Pub or Savannah Lodge

DAY 8: SATURDAY – KARUMBA (B,L,D)

We travel to Normanton; famous for their Purple Pub and meet the Big Crocodile, a life size model of the largest crocodile ever captured. Journey to Karumba centre of the Gulf’s prawn industry, on the mouth of the Norman River, where the tropical savannahs and wetlands meet. Dinner tonight is at the Sunset Tavern overlooking the Gulf of Carpentaria. Accommodation Karumba - End of the Road Motel

DAY 9: SUNDAY – KARUMBA (B,L,D)

Visit the Barramundi Discovery Centre and learn about the live breeding program. Take a comprehensive and informative Croc and Crab Cruise featuring the Port of Karumba. A special dining highlight tonight is the famous ‘Sand Island, Seafood at Sunset Experience.’ Feast on prawns and crab as the sun sets over the Gulf of Carpentaria. An unforgettable natural setting! DAY 10: MONDAY  – COBBOLD GORGE (B,L,D)

Board the Gulflander and take a scenic rail journey through the Gulf Savannah Bushland, stopping at Critters Camp to rejoin the coach. Discover the living history from Australia's Gold Rush era and mining heritage at Croydon and Georgetown. Late afternoon we arrive at the hidden Outback oasis, Cobbold Gorge - our home for the next two nights, and just in time for welcome drinks by the pool! Accommodation - Cobbold Gorge Resort

DAY 11: TUESDAY – COBBOLD GORGE (B,L,D)

Join a three-hour tour of this expansive property featuring an optional guided bushwalk to the top of the escarpment. Next, we glide on custom- made, electric powered boats in almost spiritual silence through the magnificent sandstone walled gorge. Over lunch you’ll be treated to a chat about the Robin Hood Station experience before having the rest of the afternoon and evening to relax and enjoy this magnificent setting. DAY 12: WEDNESDAY – MOUNT SURPRISE (B,L,D)

This morning, we travel to Forsayth to join the Savannahlander rail journey to Einasleigh. Here we explore Copperfield Gorge and enjoy a light lunch at the old pub. We reboard the train and travel to Mount Surprise then transfer by coach to Bedrock Village for a two night stay. Late afternoon relax with a sunset tour of Mount Surprise Station. Accommodation Mount Surprise - Bedrock Village

DAY 13: THURSDAY – MOUNT SURPRISE (B,L,D)

Meet some of the local characters at Rocky Springs Cattle Station then explore the Undara Lava Tubes, part of the world’s longest lava flow from a single volcanic crater. Enjoy the relaxing dining atmosphere of the outdoor dining area before gathering around the campfire with fellow travellers. Accommodation Mount Surprise - Bedrock Village

DAY 14: FRIDAY – CAIRNS (B,L,D)

Travel through contrasting landscapes to Cairns enjoying lunch at Woodleigh Station then continuing on to Atherton Tablelands and an enchanting natural lake hidden in World Heritage Rainforest - Lake Barrine. Gain a close-up view of one of the most amazing rainforest eco-systems in the world as you cruise this beautiful lake. Enjoy a Farewell Dinner tonight at our accommodation. DAY 15: SATURDAY - CAIRNS (B,L,D)

DAY 16: SUNDAY – (B,L,D)

Guests on GULF15 will conclude their tour after breakfast with a transfer to their homeward bound connections. Guests on GULF17 will join the Spirit of Queensland for a first class overnight journey back to Brisbane

DAY 17: MONDAY – (B,L,D)

Guests on GULF17 will arrive in Brisbane.
