Itinerary:

Day 1:  Tuesday - (D)

Guests on BDE11 will depart Brisbane on the Spirit of the Outback for a first class overnight rail journey to Longreach.

Day 2:  Wednesday - Longreach (B,L,D)

Guests on BDE9 will join the tour after lunch.  You will be met by our Outback Aussie Tour's representative and transferred to your overnight accommodation. Accommodation Longreach - Jumbuck Motel

Day 3: Thursday - Birdsville (B,L,D)

Explore the Cooper Creek catchment and follow the Thomson River floodplain to Windorah with its majestic red sand dune landscapes. See the ghost town of Betoota and the JC Hotel Ruins.  Pass by oil and gas fields to Dion's Lookout with its amazing views of the Diamantina Shire en route to the famous town of Birdsville. Day 4: Friday - Birdsville (B,L,D)

Discover the Burke and Wills Tree on the Diamantina River and see the Birdsville Racetrack.  Visit the Wirrarri Centre to view local artists' work in their extensive gallery and explore the Inland Hospital ruins.  Tonight we toast the glorious Outback sunset from atop Big Red, a 40 metre high sand dune marking the symbolic eastern edge of the Simpson Desert.  Accommodation Birdsville - Birdsville Hotel

Day 5: Saturday - Boulia (B,L,D)

Pass famous Waddi Trees and see the Carcory Ruins, a remnant of European settlement in 1870.  Witness spectacular 360-degree views from the Vaughan Johnson Lookout and visit Boulia's Min Min Light phenomenon.  Explore the Stonehouse Museum one of the first homes built in Western Queensland. Day 6:  Sunday -  Winton (B,L,D)

Travel a scenic drive to Winton stopping at Cawnpore Lookout to take in the stark flat-topped beauty of the Lilleyvale Hills.  Call into the historic Middleton Hotel, originally a coach staging post, for entertaining yarns.  Enjoy a pub lunch at Winton's famous Tatts Hotel then time to refresh at your accommodation.  Late afternoon, we'll travel to the Australian Age of Dinosaurs for our special sunset dinner.  Accommodation Winton - Boulder Opal Motel

Day 7:  Monday - Winton (B,L,D)

Travel into the heart of Waltzing Matilda country to the beautiful Carisbrooke Station.  Follow the scenic Cory's Range drive, visit an opal mine and enjoy a homestead smoko.  We continue on to Dinosaur Stampede at Lark Quarry Conservation Park to join a guided tour of 3300 fossilised footprints, the world's only recorded dinosaur stampede.  Enjoy some free time in downtown Winton. Day 8:  Tuesday - Longreach (B,L,D)

Visit the Qantilda Museum and see the world's only Musical Fence before jouneying back to Longreach.  Enjoy lunch and the Jets tour at Qantas Founders Museum.  Relax on the Thomson River aboard the Drover's Sunset Cruise followed by Smithy's Outback Dinner & Live Show. Accommodation Longreach - Jumbuck Motel.  

Day 9:  Wednesday - Longreach (B,L,D)

Witness the world's biggest classroom at the School of Distance Education.  Discover the inspiring stories of our pioneers at Stockman's Hall of Fame and watch the entertaining Outback Stockman's Show.  Enjoy some free time in downtown Longreach before joining our farewell dinner at Rosebank Station. Accommodation Longreach - Jumbuck Motel.  

Day 10:  Thursday (B,L,D)

Guests on BDE9 will conclude their tour after breakfast with a transfer to their homeward connections.  Guests on BDE11 will join the Spirit of the Outback for a first class overnight rail journey.

Day 11:  Friday (B)

Guests on BDE11 will arrive in Brisbane
