Itinerary:

Day 1: Saturday - (D)

Guests on OQNP15 will depart Brisbane on the Spirit of the Outback for a first class overnight rail journey to Longreach.

Day 2:  Sunday - (B,L,D)

Guests on OQNP14 will join the tour today after lunch.  You will be met by our Outback Aussie Tours representative and transferred to your overnight accommodation.  Enjoy a 'Welcome Dinner' at historic Rosebank Station tonight.  Accommodation Longreach - Longreach Motor Inn

Day 3:  Monday - Longreach (B,L,D)

Today we tour the Longreach School of Distance Education - Australia's largest classroom.  Explore the five themed galleries of the Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame and watch the entertaining Outback Stockman's Show.  Late afternoon, join the Drover's Sunset Cruise then enjoy a two course table service dinner at Smithy's Outback Dinner and Live Show.  Accommodation Longreach - Longreach Motor Inn

Day 4:  Tuesday - Winton (B,L,D)

Visit Qantas Founders Museum and experience the Jets tour before travelling on to historic Winton.  Enjoy free time in Winton before joining our evening sunset and nibbles tour to the spectacular Rangelands Jump Up.  Accommodation Winton - Boulder Opal Motel

Day 5:  Wednesday - Winton (B,L,D)

Visit the Waltzing Matilda Centre for a guided tour of the Qantilda precinct by the Winton Historical Society, then take a short drive out to Bladensburg National Park with its impressive flat-topped plateaus, vast grassland plains and river red gums.  Tonight we travel a short distance out of Winton to the Australian Age of Dinosaurs high up on a mesa - our special sunset dinner location.  Accommodation Winton - Boulder Opal Motel

Day 6: Thursday - Lochern National Park & Windorah (B,L,D)

We journey across ancient mesas and broken escarpments to the world's only known dinosaur stampede site at Lark Quarry Conservation Park, then follow the Thomson River floodplain to Lochern National Park, with many lagoons and waterholes including Broadwater Waterhole.  See the unusual visitors book at Stonehenge and visit the Native Well.  Enjoy a cool drink at the Jundah Hotel, before taking the top road to Windorah, the heart of the Channel Country. Day 7: Friday - Welford National Park (B,L,D)

We cross the Cooper and travel north-east to Welford National Park with its wide coolabah-lined waters and white-barked ghost gums and vivid red sand dunes.  Discover a rare (rammed earth) original grazing homestead and gain insights from the park ranger.  Tonight, watch the sunset from the crest of a magnificent red sand dune.  Accommodation Windorah - Cooper Cabins or Western Star Hotel

Day 8: Saturday - Yaraka & Idalia National Park (B,L,D)

We see Magee's Shanty, the historic site immortalised in Banjo Paterson's poem, 'A Bush Christening'.  Enjoy smoko at Yaraka Hotel and witness spectacular views from Mt Slowcombe.  At Idalia National Park, explore stunning gorges and rock formations.  Follow a scenic walk to the wave-shaped cliff overhang and keep a watch for wildlife.  Accommodation Blackall - Acacia Motor Inn.

Day 9: Sunday - Blackall (B,L,D)

Experience the Yumbangku Stratford (Welcome to Country) tour with a local Aboriginal guide.  Visit the historic Blackall Woolscour and follow the Blackall Art Trail.  Free time to relax at your accommoation. Accommodation Blackall - Acacia Motor Inn.  

Day 10: Monday - Carnarvon Gorge National Park (B,L,D)

Follow the Central Qld sandstone belt to Springsure, then travel via Rolleston to the spectacular Carnarvon Gorge National Park featuring towering sandstone cliffs, vibrantly coloured gorges, diverse flora and fauna and Aboriginal rock art.   Accommodation - Carnarvon Gorge Wilderness Lodge

Day 11: Tuesday - Carnarvon Gorge National Park (B,L,D)

We join a half day 3.5km guided walk to Moss Garden, which includes eight creek crossings (stepping stones) and a couple of short steady climbs.  Seeping down through porous sandstone and out over an impervious layer of shale, a continuous flow of crystal clear water fosters the growth of a variety of ferns and mosses in a lovely natural garden.  A nearby waterfall makes a splendid backdrop for photos, and after a short stop at Moss Garden, we begin our return walk back to the National Park Information Centre. Remainder of the day is at your leisure or you may choose to extend your walk to a full day - the second half will be self-guided.  Accommodation - Carnarvon Gorge Wilderness Lodge

Day 12: Wednesday - Carnarvon Gorge National Park (B,L,D)

Experience the magnificence of the Gorge with a scenic helicopter flight.  See the local grazing country that borders the Carnarvon National Park, before flying over the Moolayember National Park.  Witness cascading gorges and large sandstone cliffs with a magnificent view stretching into the Arcadia valley.  Tonight enjoy the 'Drama of the Cliffs' sunset tour.   Accommodation - Carnarvon Gorge Wilderness Lodge

Day 13: Thursday - Eidsvold (B,L,D)

We depart Carnarvon, skirting the sandstone belt via Rolleston to Eidsvold and the RM Williams Centre. Arrive in Mundubbera, the 'Citrus Capital of Queensland'.  Accommodation Mundubbera - Billabong Motor Inn

Day 14: Friday - Brisbane (B,L,D)

We continue our tour of the South Burnett region, passing through Kingaroy to Crane Wines, a boutique winery.  Enjoy a relaxing lunch and wine tasting with breathtaking views stretching from the Booie Ridge to the Glass House Mountains - a perfect place to reflect on our overland journey. We leave this delightful region and make our way to Brisbane.  Accommodation Brisbane - Hotel Jen

Day 15: Saturday (B)

Your tour will conclude today after breakfast.
